Equeurdreville-Hainneville.

Between the roads of Rue de la Valette and the Avenue Jacques Preveit, along the Rue Arago a city park is situated.
This location is really special because of its position between modern houses and totally incorporated in the surroundings. There are several bunkers left and also very special is that you still can see the tracks of tunnels and trenches from 1944 in the grass, together with small concrete objects.

Equeurdreville-Hainneville, Redoute des Couplets.

When you have visited the Stp. 272 H.K.B. Les Couplets, you have to take a look also at the Widerstandsnest 272.
Some streets behind the MKB, more upwards the slope, lies the old French Redoute des Couplets at the Chemin de la Redoutes des Couplets. Park outside the redoute.

When you enter the Redoute there are several school and kindergarten buildings along the square. Right in front you will see one of the Fire control posts and on your right hand you will see the second.
The first one you can come near to and even see it closely. With the second one you cannot come near to and there is hardly anything to see of it because of the overgrown bushes. According to some information and observing the location itself, there should be more smaller objects hidden in the bushes, probably two Peilstands?

Equeurdreville-Hainneville, Marine Naval Base.

Driving from Cherbourg centre over the D901 to the west, in the direction of Le Hameau de la Mer, the road makes a turn to the left. Here on your right hand you see some old French fortifications with the main entrance to the Marine Naval Base of Cherbourg.

You can park you car in front of the entrance where you already see the bunkers lying in the field. This is a public place even with a restaurant and playing objects for the kids.
The location had during the war quite al lot of bunkers, but because of the new developments many of them are demolished.
On the terrain of the Naval Base are also some bunkers left. When we made pictures of those clearly visible bunkers we were stopped by some security officers who told us that is was not allowed to take pictures. We had to delete the pictures in front of them, is a pity……..!
